In 2017 Ryan Hanrahan was invited to be part of the Ettore Sottsass Retrospective at the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art. A select few international designers were selected to create pieces to be displayed and sold in the MET Gift shop as part of the exhibition celebration. Ryan displayed his previous 2015 Primitive shelving piece. Based on a totemic monolithic form the shelving piece was finished using a pallet of Sottsass inspired pop colours.
